SEND Provision

Welcome to the Inclusion page at The Horsell Village School

At The Horsell Village School, we value each child's unique learning styles, strengths, and needs. We believe that children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) should have full curriculum access, developing as successful learners through high-quality teaching and sensitive communication.

Our Approach:

  • Inclusive Curriculum: Our curriculum is designed to be accessible to all students, with adaptations and modifications made in order to support diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Early Identification: We use various assessment tools to identify needs and barriers early and provide targeted support. We so this by following a plan-do-review cycle.
  • Positive School Culture: We foster a supportive atmosphere that boosts self-worth and self-esteem.
  • Whole-School Involvement: The entire staff is dedicated to meeting the individual needs of all children and maintaining high expectations for all.
  • Pupil and Parental Involvement: We work collaboratively with parents actively involving parents in the planning and review process to ensure the best outcomes for their children.

Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA)

Our ELSA provision supports the emotional well-being of our students, helping them develop skills to manage emotions and build positive relationships. They work with students one-to-one or in small groups. Sessions are engaging and interactive, using games, role-play, and creative activities to support emotional growth.

Key Benefits:

  • Emotional Support: Safe, nurturing environment for children to express feelings and tackle emotional challenges.
  • Skill Development: Targeted interventions teach emotional regulation, social interaction, and problem-solving.
  • Increased Confidence: Boosts self-esteem and engagement in learning by addressing emotional needs.
  • Positive Relationships: Fosters strong, supportive bonds with students, making them feel valued and understood.
