Our admissions criteria for September 2017 are as follows:

The Horsell Village school takes 90 children each year as we are a three form entry school.

  4. Children for whom the school is the nearest to their home address
  5. Siblings who previously attended The Horsell Village School (takes effect for 2017 entry)
  6. Any other applicant

Catchment

There is no set catchment area and it changes dependent upon the applications received for that particular year. For example, the catchment area for September 2016 was 0.940km and in September 2015 was 0.925km.

Allocation of Places

Children with a Statement of Special Educational Needs or an Education Health and Care plan (EHCP) that names the School will be allocated a place before other applicants are considered. In this way, the number of places available will be reduced by the number of children with a statement that has named the School.

The allocation across the criteria for the September 2016 intake is as follows:-

2015 2016
Looked After Children 1 0
Exceptional Arrangements 0
Siblings at the time of admission 22 15
Children for whom the school is the nearest to them 45 43
Any other applicant 22 33

Over subscription

If there is over subscription within any criteria, priority is given according to the distance from the pupil’s permanent home address to the school. Distance is measured by a straight line from the address point of the pupil’s house, as set by Ordnance Survey to the nearest school gate for pupils to use.

Using Surrey County Council’s ‘Find a School’ application

Please note that the ‘find a school’ application available on Surrey County Council’s website is presented to parents as an indicator of what their home to school distance might be but it does not claim to present the home to school distance that will be used in the admissions process. ‘Find a school’ uses NLPG data to identify an address point within the child’s home address whereas the system used by the admissions team uses address base data. The difference is minimal.

In year admissions

As an academy The Horsell Village school manages it’s own waiting lists for current years and works with Surrey to co-ordinate requests for the transfer to a new school. If there is a space available in the year group requested , you will , under normal circumstances be offered the place. If there is no place available , your child’s name will be added to our waiting list and we will contact you if a place becomes available.

Although we are an Academy Surrey County Council centrally manage our application forms.
